Fachicuradio
2021-, project in progress based on a research on history in Spain and Mexico

This is a new ongoing project from that began in September 2021. It is about the history of the samurais who arrived in Mexico and Spain in 1615.

Headed by Tsunenaga Hasekura (spelled as "Fachicura" on oficial documents), a group of samurais traveled from Sendai, Japan to Mexico, Spain and Italy in a diplomatic mission ordered by the regional ruler Masamune Date. However, it is said that some of them did not return home and remained in Mexico and Spain.

Traveling through different places far from their home, those samurais, I suppose, must have faced various difficulties and I wonder if I, a Japanese imigrant living in today's world, can relate myself to some of their problems by refrecting on my experiences of living in Peru and Europe.

Of course, the situation in which the samurais found themselves was very special and unique, but I still imagine that there should be some common points between their life and my life.

Process
1. Create an imaginary talk show as a podcast program of life counseling where the host gives advice to listeners. The title of the program is "Fachicuradio".
2. Invent problems that the samurais could have had and might have wanted to consult the host of this program if there had been radio.
3. Serve as the counselor myself, giving advice after reading letters from the samurais; sometimes with invited guests such as locals, Japanese immigrants, historians, etc., depending on the topic of the day.

Through this project, I would like to explore common life problems that we human beings have had in the past, are having at present, and will have in the future, between different personalities, cultures, and languages.
